The HP 3PAR SNMP agent supports SNMPv3, SNMPv2c, SMI-v2 standards. The 3PAR MIB is contained within the 3PAR CLI download. 3PAR and SNMP 3PAR has its own SNMP agent built into the device. It enables you to monitor SAN components such as Fiber channel switches, Storage Arrays, and Tape Libraries which form the backbone of enterprise applications. These OID list the characteristics of the devices that can be managed. With advanced performance monitoring and extensive reporting, OpManager packs a ton of features such as 'Disk Read/Write' stats, capacity utilization monitors and storage growth trend graphs to efficiently manage and monitor your storage devices round-the-clock. OpManager's integrated storage monitoring solution gives you the freedom of managing all your network storage devices from a single pane. SNMP based checks work exactly like the agent based ones with one exception: Instead of using a section from an agents output you specify a list of subtrees in an SNMP MIB as data source. When you configure a trap receiver, you specify its community membership, management station IP address, and (optionally) the type of Event Log messages to be sent. Dedicated storage solutions call for a dedicated storage management software. It solved partially my question but I still have a doubt. Use the snmp-server host command to configure a trap receiver that can receive SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c traps, and (optionally) Event Log messages.
